This site is dedicated to the memory of Jean Johnston.

Jean was my Mum. She spent her life helping other people. She played the organ at our local chapel for over 50 years, was a member of the W.I., had been on the local parish council and was involved in numerous other organisations including our local concert party which raised thousands of pounds for charity. Jean had suffered with chest problems for much of her life, developed Celiac Disease in the latter part of her life and then began to develop major chest problems in the early part of 2005. Despite visiting her doctor and having a series of tests her health deteriorated very quickly. She was taken into hospital late one Friday evening with a suspected asthma attack, collapsed in the hospital in the early hours of the following morning and died two hours later. She was 68 years old. The results of her post mortem showed that she had died of Acute Cryptogenic Fibrosing Alveolitis. It took almost 3 months to get the full report as we were told it is a very rare condition and difficult to diagnose. Since then we, as a family, have decided to raise money for the British Lung Foundation. The only way we have coped with her death is to have a positive focus. By fundraising I know that in her own way my Mum is still helping others.
